Deep East Texas woke up to an internet outage in the Jasper area, while just a little to our north many counties had power outages due to thunderstorms.
Here in Jasper, customers of NewWave Communications were without internet service and a company employee said that the outage was area-wide, they were aware of the issue, and they were working to correct it. However, there was no estimate of when it might be resolved.
Meanwhile, a number of households and businesses in at least 14 counties were experiencing power outages after Tuesday morning thunderstorms moved from west to east, stretching from the Lufkin area up to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and over to the Texarkana and Shreveport area.
Hardest hit was Smith County with 252 customers without power, followed by Rusk County with 205 reported outages.
