The suspect in a 1995 murder of a Beaumont school teacher has now been indicted on a Capital Murder charge by the Jefferson County Grand Jury.
Clayton Bernard Foreman, 61, is accused of sexually assaulting and killing Mary Catherine Edwards. She was 31 at the time of her death.
Edwards was last seen alive on the night of Friday, January 13th, 1995. The next day her parents found her body with her hands cuffed behind her back and her head under water in her bathtub.
Foreman was arrested in April in Franklin County, Ohio, where he had been living. Beaumont Police say it was DNA evidence collected at the crime scene in a west Beaumont townhouse that lead to him being identified as their suspect.
An indictment by a Grand Jury does not mean that the person named in the indictment is guilty of a crime. Instead, it indicates that Grand Jurors felt that enough evidence existed to merit a trial.
