Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said on Thursday that the investigation into the December 7th, 2018 murder of 22-year-old Christopher Spikes sent him into Louisiana earlier in the week. However, Newman said that although that endeavor didn’t produce any usable results, he emphasized that the investigation was still very active and investigators were continuing to develop and follow leads.

According to Newman, the purpose of the Louisiana trip was to speak to a prison inmate there who supposedly had some sort of connection or possibly knew some information about the case.

Spikes’ body was located in a wooded area just off of Hi Truitt Road, and an autopsy revealed that he died as the result of a gunshot wound to the head.

If you have any information about the case, you’re asked to contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Department at 409-384-5417, or any law enforcement agency. You do not have to give your name.
