Flames destroyed a home in Jasper early Monday morning. It happened at about 3:30 at 430 Ogden Street, just west of Downtown.

Fortunately, the resident of the home, Lillie B. Scott and three members of her family, were awakened and able to get out of the house without any injury.

Jasper firefighters arrived at the scene to find the right front room of the one-story brick home completely engulfed in flames and they worked for about 20 minutes before bringing it under control.

What caused the fire is unknown.

The home was owned by Jasper real estate agent Ben Hancock.
