Four people are undergoing hospital treatment following a two-vehicle auto accident that occurred on Friday afternoon North of Jasper.

Firemen and other emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 96 North and Recreational Road 255, shortly before 2:00 pm and arrived to find that the two vehicles had collided in the intersection of the two busy roadways.

Witnesses at the scene said the accident occurred when a Mercedes sedan, which was headed south on Highway 96, was struck by a Nissan Sentra, which was reportedly headed west on Recreational Road 255. However, what caused the crash is not known, pending completion of an investigation into the incident.

The driver and two passengers of the Nissan as well as the driver of the Mercedes, who was traveling alone, were all taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.

The volunteers of the Lake Rayburn fire department were dispatched to the scene and assisted with traffic control. However, no fire resulted from the incident.
