The Silsbee Fire Department has announced that they have lost one of their firefighters. Angie Brown, who had been with the department for about five years, died early Tuesday afternoon following a bout with cancer.

The department posted on their Facebook page “At 12:58 p.m. June 4, 2019, Silsbee firefighter Angie Brown responded to her final call.”

Brown had been battling the dreaded disease since October when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Doctors later discovered that she also had stage 4 thyroid cancer.

In April, Angie told our news partner KFDM 6 News "As you can see, I'm emotional. I just want to thank everyone who's been following me and praying for me."

There’s no word yet on funeral arrangements.
