Texas has gained her independence a second time. On Tuesday – Texas Independence Day – Governor Greg Abbott announced that he is ordering the state completely reopened. That includes mask mandates being rescinded, and businesses opening up to 100% capacity.
The announcement came during a visit to a restaurant in Lubbock.
Governor Abbott said, “It’s now time to open Texas 100 percent.”
“State mandates are no longer needed. Effective next Wednesday (March 10th), all businesses of any type are allowed to open 100 percent. That includes any kind of entity of Texas.”
Abbott went on to say, “I am ending the statewide mask mandate.”
For the past year, Texas, along with the rest of the world, has been living under restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic which first hit American shores in early 2020.
Here in our immediate area, restaurants and other businesses have fluctuated between 50% and 75% capacity limits as our Coronavirus numbers fluctuated.
Abbott, also touting the availability of the Coronavirus vaccine, summed it all up by saying "Texans have mastered the daily habits to avoid getting Covid."
