A statement released on Friday by Christus Health Public Relations Specialist Kevin C. Dolliole says that the organization wishes to renew their lease of Jasper Memorial Hospital, a building which they have occupied for over 20 years.
This comes one month after a vote by the Jasper Hospital District Board of Directors to step back in negotiations with Christus to renew their contract and, instead, explore other options.
The current lease agreement with Christus will end in April if it is not renewed.
The following statement was released by CHRISTUS Health Public Relations Specialist Kevin C. Dolliole:
CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System has been providing quality, compassionate care to communities in our 9-county region for nearly 90 years. Jasper Memorial hospital is an important piece of our overall ministry, and has anchored our rural presence for more than 20 years.
"We are pleased to share our intent to renew our lease with the Jasper Hospital District to continue serving the community at Jasper Memorial hospital," said Wayne Moore, President of Jasper Memorial hospital. "Given the strong bonds that have been formed between our ministry and the community that we proudly serve, we feel that it would be the in the best interests of all parties that this partnership continue."
To strengthen this partnership, CHRISTUS would like to work more closely with the Jasper Hospital District on ways to improve the operations and services provided to this unique community. Encouraged on this front by the recent appointment of Wayne Moore to President of Jasper Memorial Hospital, this allows Mr. Moore to work full-time in our Jasper ministry. As another sign of our assurance to the Jasper community, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas has recently contracted with a local medical group to manage the inpatient health care services at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Rural hospitals provide key health care services to the communities they serve. "That commitment to serve our rural communities is one that CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System eagerly stands by," said Moore. "It is our sincerest commitment that CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial hospital will continue touching and caring for the families in this area for many years to come. As a trusted health care provider to all we are privileged to serve, we strive for the common goal of doing what is best for our neighbors, and our best path to success is to move forward together."
