Fortunately no one was injured when two vehicles collided on Wednesday afternoon west of Downtown Jasper.
Police, firemen and other emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 2799 and 777 shortly after 1:00 when it was reported that the accident had occurred.
Jasper Police Lieutenant Garrett Foster said Cristeta Talbott, 58, of Jasper, was driving a 2019 Ford Explorer westbound on 2799 and attempted to turn south onto 777. However, Foster said she turned into the path of an eastbound 1996 Chevrolet Corvette, driven by 56-year-old Robert Kraus, also of Jasper.
The two vehicles collided head-on and both came to rest on the eastbound lane. However, despite significant damage to both vehicles, there didn’t appear to be any injuries.
KJAS News archives show that we have covered at least twenty accidents at the intersection since 2005, several involving serious injuries and one in which a woman died.
