One of the trucks recently stolen from a home in the Lake Rayburn Area north of Jasper has been found near San Antonio.
Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said Tuesday that the stolen Ford was spotted and stopped by State Trooper on Interstate 35 and that six people, who were in the vehicle were taken into custody. However, according to Newman, three other occupants of the truck ran from the officer and got away.
Newman said the arrests came shortly after 9:00 on Tuesday morning, near the small town of Live Oak, which is northeast of San Antonio, in Bexar County.
Newman said the truck was owned by Donnie Vanoy, who along with 5 other people in the area, reported that their trucks had been stolen in mid June.
The names of the driver or who was riding in the truck is still unknown. However, Newman said he was told by the Texas Department of Public Safety that the persons who were taken into custody were all illegal aliens.
Newman that he and others are hoping that the discovery and arrests would help them in the recovery of other vehicles and additional arrests.
In all a total of four trucks were stolen from residents of the county and two were also stolen within the City of Jasper.
