The Jasper County Grand Jury convened on Thursday.

The Jasper County Grand Jury has handed up indictments against nineteen defendants on a total of twenty-two felony charges after being presented with testimony and evidence from District Attorney Steve Hollis.

Dennis Lane Kelley, 69, of Buna – Charged with aggravated assault of a public servant in July of 2016. Kelley is accused of threatening Deputy Cody Abshier with a sword.

Jacob Hunter Gentry, 21, of Kirbyville – Charged with assault of EMS personnel in July of 2016. Gentry is accused of assaulting and injuring Paramedic Crystal Warren.

Dominique Lamont Elam, 23, of Jasper – Charged with harassment by person in correctional/detention in May of 2016. Elam is accused causing Jasper County Jailer Dakota Selph to come into contact with Elam’s urine.

Shane Douglas Blessing, 23, of Lake Charles, LA – Charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in June of 2016. Blessing is accused of stealing a vehicle owned by Stacey Kellum.

Wilbert Ray Bronson, 59, of Jasper – Charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in August of 2015. Bronson is accused of being in possession of a firearm after being convicted on a drug charge in April of 2013.

Mason Andrew Calloway, 21, of Call – Charged with sex offenders duty to register 10yrs in October of 2015. Calloway is accused of failing to report a change of address to the proper authorities after having been previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Wesley Evans, 21, of Silsbee – Charged with escape while arrested/confined felony in April of 2016. Evans is accused of escaping from the custody of Jasper County Jailer Marcus Barber outside of Jasper Memorial Hospital after feigning an illness.

Travis Leeroy Clinard, 34, of Corrigan – Charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, both in July of 2016. Clinard is accused of robbing Loretta Webb and the East Side Game Room on Highway 63 East in Jasper at gunpoint, with a weapon that he was not allowed to carry due to a May 2005 conviction on a burglary of a habitation charge.

David A. Melton, 28, of Kirbyville – Charged with burglary of a habitation with the intent of a sexual offense in May of 2016. Melton is accused of breaking into a home with the intention of sexually assaulting a woman.

Melissa Rose Deranieri, 35, of Kirbyville – Charged with credit or debit card abuse in April of 2016. Deranieri is accused of using, without consent, a credit or debit card owned by Myranda Rice.

Linda Sue Martinez, 42, of Orange – Charged with possessing a prohibited substance or item in a correctional facility in March of 2016. Martinez is accused of possessing Diazepam, which is the generic version of the narcotic mood altering drug Valium, while being held as an inmate in the Jasper County Jail.

Joan Megan McGilbery, 32, of Kirbyville – Charged with possession of a controlled substance, tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, and driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle, all in March of 2015. McGilbery is accused of driving under the influence of an illegal substance with a child in her vehicle, and also being in possession methamphetamine, and also trying to conceal methamphetamine.

Reggie A. Ashworth, Jr., 18, of Jasper – Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in March of 2016. Ashworth is accused of conspiring with D’Marcus McQueen and Alfred Middleton, Jr., to steal merchandise from the Jasper WalMart store.

D’Marcus McQueen, 21, of Jasper - Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in March of 2016. McQueen is accused of conspiring with D’Marcus McQueen and Alfred Middleton, Jr., to steal merchandise from the Jasper WalMart store.

Shedrick Damond Adams, 31, of Jasper – Charged with credit or debit card abuse in August of 2015. Adams is accused of using, without consent, a credit or debit card owned by Michelle Rhodes, dba Premier Coach Company.

Elvin Dean Land, 59, of Jasper – Charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in June of 2016. Land is accused of assaulted and injured Kevin Gatson by striking him on the head with a pistol.

Heather Olivia Meza, 32, of Jasper – Charged with credit or debit card abuse in April of 2016. Meza is accused of using, without consent, a credit or debit card owned by Linda Dickerson.

Cory Anderson, 20, of Bronson – Charged with theft of property in May of 2016. Anderson is accused of stealing a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder from the owner, Kenneth Woods.

Chad Curtis Tubbs, 23, of Jasper – Charged with forgery of government/national institution/money/security in July of 2016. Tubbs is apparently accused of using counterfeit money, specifically twenty-one $20.00 bills, at the Jasper WalMart store.

An indictment by the Grand Jury does not mean that a person is guilty of a crime. It simply indicates that Grand Jurors believe that enough evidence exists in each case to merit a trial.
