The window has opened for those seeking election or re-election to county and state level offices. Here in Jasper County the 2022 March Primary ballot is filling up, and it appears that there will be at least one contested race.

We checked with the leaders of the local Democrat and Republican Parties to see who has signed on to run for what office. The deadline to submit paperwork to seek election or re-election is Monday, December 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Democratic Party Chair Kristina Mathews said that as of Monday, no Democrats had filed paperwork to run, but she said there could possibly be one near the end of the week.

Meanwhile, Republican Party Chair Johnny Gravis said a slew of candidates were seeking election or re-election.
