The owner of the truck supplied these photos to the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said on Tuesday that a 16-year-old boy has been identified as the suspect in a recent theft of a large work truck in the Brookeland area. The 2004 Ford F-650 was reported stolen on Monday, January 6th from the Thomas Edward Smith residence on Highway 96 in Brookeland.

Sheriff Newman said after a story and photos were on KJAS News, his department received a tip from a KJAS reader the next day reporting the truck abandoned in a wooded area at the intersection of County Roads 200 and 201 in the Brookeland area.

Newman said the investigation lead his deputies to the teenager, and he has been turned over to juvenile authorities. Due to his age and because it is a criminal case, his name has not been released.
