The Jasper Fire Department conducted an aerial rescue in Sabine County late Thursday afternoon. Firefighters responded at about 4:00 with their ladder truck ‘Tower 1’ to the Georgia Pacific Mill in Pineland.

A mill employee, identified by his wife as Coleman Lindsey, became stuck in a man-lift about 90 feet in the air, and although he was not reported to be in any physical distress, he had been in that position since about 1:00 with no way to get down.

Jasper Firefighter Gary Lameroux was hoisted into the air in the truck’s bucket, and he placed Lindsey inside the bucket with him and took him safely to the ground.

Mrs. Lindsey said that it was the second time that her husband, who is the mill’s Lead Maintenance Technician, had become stranded by the man-lift. She said the last time was in the summer of last year when he was stuck in the air for several hours in the summer heat.

The wife said that her husband has worked for the company for about 30 years.
