A Jasper man spent part of Christmas behind bars after Jasper Police say he assaulted a family member.

Sargent Gary Pullen’s report said that he responded to 112 Seale Street shortly before 2:00 on Christmas day when it was reported that a family disturbance was in progress. Pullen said he arrived to find the suspect, 21-year-old Dominique Elam, being held down on the front porch by a family member.

According to Pullen, family member said that Elam had been involved in some horse-play with them when it got out of hand and Elam became violent.

Adding to problem, Pullen said Elam admitted that he had been drinking all night and day, and was also on at least two different narcotic medications.

Elam was arrested and later appeared before Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Freddie Miller and was charged with assault causing bodily injury-family violence. His bond was set at $2,500.00, and at last word he remained behind bars.
