The body of a man who died when his truck went off the road and into a bayou in nearby Orange County on Saturday afternoon has been located and recovered by searchers.
KOGT in Orange is reporting that early Sunday morning the body of, 49-year-old Darren Ross May of Orange, was recovered from Adams Bayou by divers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the Port Arthur Police Department.
Orange County Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner, who has called for an autopsy, pronounced May dead at the scene.
Officers say that shortly after 3:00 on Saturday afternoon, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report that a vehicle had went off of Farm to Market Road 1078 and landed in the bayou a vehicle in Adams Bayou.
Within a short time, officers located the 2006 GMC truck. However, it was the next day before they could find the body.
What caused the vehicle to leave the road is still unknown and the incident is still under investigation.
