Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman said Monday that officers with his department were investigating a series of burglaries and thefts that occurred over the last few days in deer hunting camps and oil field sites located to the south and southwest of Jasper.
Deputy John Cooper said the thefts occurred at camps in and around county roads 304 and 317, 425, near, Zion Hill, Erin and Magnolia Springs where thieves stole everything from guns to generators, microwave oven and other cooking items as well as solar panels
In the case of oil fields, Cooper said the thieves mainly stole batteries with special emphasize on Interstate Brand Batteries from various compressors and other equipment.
Cooper and Newman are asking anyone that might have any information about the thefts to come forth. He said you do not have to give your name if you do not want to.
