A trucker and another driver were reportedly both injured in a late Tuesday morning accident in San Augustine County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, it happened shortly before the noon hour on U.S. Highway 96 just south of State Highway 147, southwest of San Augustine.

DPS Sergeant David Hendrey said a 2018 Peterbilt truck, which was transporting water, was traveling northbound when the 18-wheeler went off of the highway to the right and the driver overcorrected back to the left and crossed into the southbound lane.

The big-rig collided head-on with a southbound 1992 Ford F-600 truck, and both vehicles overturned.

The driver of the Peterbilt, Julian Wallace, Jr., 36, of Palestine was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin, while the driver of the Ford, Marcellus Stripling, 69, of Garrison was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

There’s no word on the condition of either man.
