Jasper Fire Marshal Brandon Duckworth said on Thursday that he has concluded his investigation into an early Monday morning house fire, and he was unable to determine a cause. Duckworth said he looked closely at the electrical system in the home and he found no problems with it.
Meanwhile, Duckworth said that an insurance company fire investigator is expected to also take a look at the home.
The blaze was reported at about 3:30 in the morning at the Lillie B. Scott residence at 430 Ogden Street, where she lived with three other family members. Fortunately, they were awaked by the fire and managed to escape safely.
The one-story brick home, which was a rental, is owned by Jasper realtor Ben Hancock.
