The Angelina County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday released the name of a deceased man who was found the previous day in a pickup truck submerged in Lake Sam Rayburn.

The man was identified as Steven Michael Paul, a 30-year-old resident of Huntington.

Texas Parks & Wildlife game wardens and Angelina County deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a boat ramp at Hank’s Creek Park, about midway between Zavalla and Huntington, when someone reported finding the vehicle under water. Inside the late model Dodge pickup truck, a body was discovered.

Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the death are not known and law enforcement officials say the investigation continues, including an autopsy that has been ordered by a Justice of the Peace.


KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that a body was inside a dodge pickup truck that was found submerged in Lake Sam Rayburn on Wednesday.

The report cited information from Texas Parks & Wildlife that said game wardens were sent to the boat ramp at Hanks Creek Park, located about midway between Zavalla and Huntington.

Meanwhile, the Angelina County Sheriff's Department was also involved in the investigation, and at last word they were working to have the vehicle removed from the lake.

There's no word on who the person may be, or how long the truck may have been in the lake.
