One man is in the hospital and another was jailed following an auto pedestrian accident that occurred on Sunday evening on Gibson Street here in Jasper.
A report filed by Jasper Police Officer Tyler Lendo said he and other were dispatched to the Son Asian Bistro in the 600 block of West Gibson Street shortly after 9:00, when it was reported that the accident had occurred and arrived to find a man in a ditch suffering from injuries.
The victim, which was later identified as Charlie Morris Bryant, 37, of Milam was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where he was treated before being transported to a hospital in Beaumont for additional treatment.
After talking with witnesses and investigating the incident, officers said the driver of a 2005 Ford pick-up truck, Leon Clark, 69, of Jasper, was taken to the Jasper County Jail, where he later appeared before a judge and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. However, Clark was later released after posting $2,500 in bond.
