The sport utility vehicle went off the road and into the woods.

Two people were at last word undergoing treatment for the injuries they received in a single vehicle auto accident that occurred on Sunday morning, south of Jasper.

The volunteers of the Tri-Community Fire Department were dispatched to the location of the accident, 2 miles west of Highway 96 on Farm to Market Road 1005 shortly before 11:00 when it was reported that the crash had occurred.

Sgt. Stephanie Davis said a preliminary investigation indicated that the 2010 Mazda passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on FM 1005. The driver entered a curve at an unsafe speed and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck several trees before coming to rest.

Davis said a passenger in the vehicle,  Aryanna Sanders, 5, was injured and flown to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston with serious injuries.

Davis said the driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Shaunta Hughey-Sanders of Beaumont, was not injured in the crash but was cited for speeding.
