KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that Child Protective Services has announced that the daughter of a Zavalla man, who was killed along with his wife in a double-shooting earlier this year, is now having extended visitations with her paternal grandmother, and the goal of the state agency is to have her placed in her custody permanently.

The grandmother, Kelly Haggard, has been pursuing custody of the 5-year-old daughter of Nathan Maddox since May.

Nathan Maddox and his wife, Krystal, were killed in a January 18 shooting after a supervised visit with the girl at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Colmesneil.

The Tyler County Sheriff's Department later arrested Paul Westfall, Letha Westfall, Kristen Westfall, and Cameron Westfall. The four have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in relation to the shooting.
