Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Thursday issued an order requiring all people of the Lone Star State to wear a mask when in public setting or crowded outdoor space.
The order as handed down by the Governor mandates the use of face masks in counties that have 21 or more active cases; meaning those living and working in Jasper County will be required to wear a mask. However, due to the lower numbers, the rule does not apply to the nearby Newton, Sabine or Tyler Counties.
The rule requiring masks goes went into effect on Friday at 12:01 p.m.
Exemptions include: children under age of 10, individuals with medical conditions or a disability that prevents wearing masks, and also those who are eating or drinking.
Also excluded from the rule are individuals who or running or working out outdoors or swimming.
Fines to be assessed include a $250.00 fine.
