The Texas Department of Public Safety says a van owned by a Lufkin funeral home and carrying a body was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon in northern Tyler County. It happened shortly after 2:00 on U.S. Highway 69, just south of Colmesneil.

According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, a 2012 Dodge Caravan, owned by Gipson Funeral Home, was traveling northbound behind a 2019 Ford pickup truck. Clark said the driver of the pickup, Bradley Goodwin, 21, of Pollok, slowed to make a left turn. Clark said the driver of the van, Kent Childers, 20, of Lufkin, took evasive action to avoid hitting the back of the truck and swerved left just as the truck was turning left, but the van struck the front driver side quarter-panel of the truck.

Clark said there were no injuries, and Childers was issued a citation for Disregarding a No Passing Zone.
