Fire destroyed a home in the Harrisburg Community east of Jasper on Thursday. The volunteers of the East End Fire Department were dispatched to the location, shortly before noon, when it was reported that fire had broken out at the structure and arrived to find the double wide mobile home completely engulfed in flames.

As heavy rains fell in the area, the volunteers of the East End Fire Department battled the blaze and soon called for assistance from the Jasper Fire Department and it took the combined efforts of both the departments to finally bring the fire under control. However, firefighters from the Beech Grove, Angelina and Lake Rayburn Fire Departments were in the end all called into assist.

What caused the fire is unknown. However, the fire occurred as a heavy thunderstorm and associated lightning moved through the area.

The owner of the residence, Bobby Stott was not home when the fire occurred and no injuries resulted from the incident.
