It is still unknown what caused a fire that broke out early Monday morning, completely destroying a home south of Jasper.

The volunteers of the Tri-Community Fire Department were called to the location on Highway 96, about a mile south of the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1005, shortly before 4:00, when it was reported that the brick and wood frame home was on fire and arrived to find the structure completely engulfed flames and there was little they could do but try to keep the fire from spreading.

Firemen said the owners of the home, Carlos Carter and his wife were able to make it out of the house with no injuries.
