They gathered by the hundreds in Woodville on Monday, throngs of people lined up along Highways 190 and 69 to pay respect as the body of U.S. Army Specialist Jacoby Ramon McFarland was brought home.

According to an Army spokesman, the 25-year-old died on January 2nd after he was found unresponsive in his room where he was stationed as part of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command in Hawaii. Despite lifesaving measures, McFarland was pronounced dead a short time later at a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the cause of his death remains under investigation.

McFarland’s body arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Monday morning, and a hearse was then escorted to Coleman’s Family Mortuary in Woodville by the Patriot Guard and other groups.

McFarland’s Facebook page said that he had also been stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, and he had also completed training in the U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Weapons School.

Jacoby is the son of Marcia McCray Bronson and Aaron McFarland, along with stepfather Hank Bronson, all of Jasper.

Visitation Service will be at 11:00 a.m. and Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m., both at Lighthouse Church of God in Christ at 1013 Helen Street in Jasper, Texas.

Interment Service will follow at Armstrong CME Memorial Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Coleman’s Family Mortuary in Woodville.

Specialist Jacoby Ramon McFarland was born January 28, 1994 in Jasper, TX. to Aaron and Marcia McFarland. In his teenage years he was raised by his parents Aaron McFarland and Marcia and Hank Bronson.

Jacoby McFarland gave his life to Christ at a young age and was an active member of Armstrong Memorial CME Church where he served as an usher, youth choir member and Sunday school secretary. Spc. McFarland graduated from Jasper High School; Class of 2012. He was a member of the Jasper Bulldogs football team and played trumpet in the school band. In 2013 he joined The United States Army as a 74 Delta Chemical Radiological Biology and Nuclear Specialist.

In his spare time Jacoby enjoyed watching football and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing his PlayStation better known as screen name Ez Money_511. Most of all he loved helping people and being around family and friends.

Jacoby McFarland is proceeded in death by his great-grandparents: paternal- Verget and Sadie McFarland, Henry and Jeanette Miles, maternal great-grandparents: Winnie Armstrong, Tom and Cora Horn; grandparents Preston and Dorothy McFarland.

He also leaves his God Mother Paulette Brown along with a special cousin; Chandler- Dickinson- Lomas who he loved and cherished as his own brother...along with a host of cousins, family and friends.
