A legally blind Jasper woman has written a memoir and it will soon be available for purchase online, or at a special event here in Jasper.

She is Barbara Holton, who was born with ocular albinism and in her book, Through The Haze: Living With Limited Vision, she reveals her trials and triumphs of life without vision.

Holton details her struggles of dealing and living with the rare genetic birth defect. According to a press release from her publicist, she “shares a story that is relatable to anyone who has ever been bullied, felt alone in a roomful of people, like they just didn’t belong, like they had lost their way, or experienced emotional abuse”.

There will be a book-signing coinciding with the official release of the book on Friday, January 17th in the Jasper/Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center at 500 South Wheeler Street.

During the event, Holton plans to share special insight into her life and the writing of her memoir.

You can purchase a signed copy of her book for $25.00 or a traditional copy for $19.95 by visiting her website:
