Jasper Fire Marshal Brandon Duckworth said on Tuesday that he has completed investigations into two recent residential blazes.
One of the fires occurred on the afternoon of Father’s Day Sunday, June 21st at a vacant home on Kelly Street behind Grease Monkey.
Duckworth said the official cause of the fire will be ruled undetermined, but he noted that he couldn’t rule out electrical in nature. Duckworth had said a few days after the fire that electricity was running to the home, but the meter had been pulled so power was not reaching into the house. Duckworth said there was a question about a downed power pole outside of the house, and he had been unable to determine if it fell and caused the fire, or of it fell as a result of the fire.
The other blaze occurred at 124 Cinnamon Oaks on the far southeast side of town late at night on Sunday, June 28th.
Duckworth ruled that blaze accidental, and electrical in nature.
