Representatives of the Jasper County Hospital District met on Tuesday with officials of Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital to present a check for the purchase of a new nurse call system.

Hospital administrator Wayne Moore said the project would not only include an updated system for patients to summons a nurse, but also video screens in each room that will provide patients with up to date information on who is treating them at any given hour.

Moore said the hospital greatly appreciated the funding of the hospital and that it would fill a void in the system as he and others strive to make sure that patients are not only cared for but also informed.

The handing over of a large check in the amount of $573,732.70 took place at 10:00 at the front door of the hospital.

Those on hand for the event included hospital district board members Kenneth Brooks and Joe Clyde Adams along with Christus representatives Moore, Daniel Ford, Mary Goodwin and Teri Hawthorne.
