Texas troopers have been out in force on highways statewide over the July 4th holiday period, but accidents are continuing to occur at an alarming rate across our area. One of which was an early Friday afternoon crash in Tyler County.

According to Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis, it happened at about 1:30 on U.S. Highway 69 just south of Warren.

Davis said a 2009 Chevrolet passenger vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Caleb Ruggles, of Warren, was traveling northbound. Davis said for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off of the roadway and rear-ended a parked Fed-Ex delivery truck.

The driver of the Fed-Ex truck was not injured, but Ruggles was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
