A Buna woman accused of committing arson involving a Monday house fire in south Jasper County has now been officially charged. Stacy Ann Mason, 49, appeared before Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Smith on Wednesday and was charged with Arson and also Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Judge Smith levied a total combined bond of $35,000.00, and as of mid-day Wednesday Mason remained in the Jasper County Jail.

The blaze destroyed a mobile home located in the 2700 block of Farm to Market Road 2938, which is just southeast of Buna.

According to Jasper County Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan, deputies had been dealing with ongoing problems involving Mason and the man that she was living with. Duncan said a disturbance between the couple escalated on Monday, resulting in Mason setting the house on fire.
