A late Thursday night fire destroyed a home northwest of Kirbyville, leaving a woman and other family members, including children who are now homeless. All of their possessions, including their vehicles were destroyed.

Kirbyville and Tri-Community firefighters were sent to the blaze on County Road 474 near U.S. Highway 96 and arrived to find the structure and a vehicle completely engulfed.

Camille Lewis said on Friday that the home was over 100-years-old and had been built by her great-grand parents, and was owned by her mother, 68-year-old Susan Lewis.

Camille said it’s unknown what caused the blaze.

Meanwhile, Camille asked for anyone that would like to donate to assist her mother can do so by calling her at 409-622-1269. Or, you can contact another family member, Tiffany Shaver, at 409-622-7410.
