Kirbyville Police were busy early Tuesday evening after a vehicle and a bicycle collided. It happened at about 5:30 at the intersection of West Main and South Vallie Streets.

Kirbyville Police Chief Paul Brister said 52-year-old Linda Wheeler, who lived nearby, was riding a bicycle southbound on Vallie and disregarded a stop sign. She rode out in front of a 1999 Volvo commercial truck that was westbound on Main.

Brister said the man driving the truck, Nicholas Hagen, of Buna, told officers that he slammed on the brakes and swerved, but he still hit the woman.

Brister said Wheeler treated and later released from a hospital and she's said to be back at home and doing well.
