The Beech Grove Fire Department was busy early Monday evening when a controlled burn grew out of control and flames swept across a hay field belonging to Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman.
The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 at Newman’s property, The Crazy Horse Ranch, located off of County Road 197.
Word is that a worker was conducting the controlled burn. However, dry and windy conditions weren’t conducive for outdoor burning on Monday.
Firefighters were able to stop the flames before any damage occurred to buildings.
