After hearing evidence as submitted by Jasper District Attorney Ann Pickle and her staff, the Jasper County Grand Jury on Thursday handed down an indictment charging Royce Edward Larkin with murder.
Larkin, 53, of Jasper is accused of stabbing his girlfriend Judy Arnold to death with knife in September of this year in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn Motel on Highway 190, near the intersection of Highway 96.
Police believe Larkin and Arnold, who had been dating each other for years, were arguing over her purchase of a new car when the incident occurred.
Arnold's lifeless body was found sitting behind the wheel of the new Chrysler after Larkin allegedly called emergency dispatchers and said police were needed at the address. Officers said they arrived to find Larkin covered in blood and pointing at the car where Arnold was found.
Larkin, who was arrested and taken into custody at the scene of the stabbing is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail under $1 million dollars bail.
