Officers from the Jasper Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles converged on a used car dealership in Jasper on Monday morning with a warrant in hand.

It happened shortly before 11:00 at Big Country Auto Sales on Highway 190 at the intersection of South Bowie Street.

Jasper Police Lieutenant Garrett Foster said officers were executing an evidentiary search warrant. Foster said no arrests were made, and the search warrant was strictly to gather materials as part of an investigation.

A release from the department later in the day said: "The search warrant was for evidentiary purposes only and no arrests have been made at this time.  The main focus was documents sent to the State and local tax office as pertaining to the registration and sales tax on vehicle sales. "

Also assisting in the operation was Jasper County Precinct 2 Constable Niles Nichols.
