The Jasper County Grand Jury has indicted nineteen defendants on twenty-seven felony charges after considering testimony and evidence submitted by District Attorney Anne Pickle and her staff.
Martin Earl Reed, 31, of Jasper – 8 counts of forgery of a financial instrument, alleged to have occurred in November of 2017. Reed is accused of cashing eight checks at BBVA Compass Bank in Jasper, totaling $7,724.36. Prosecutors allege that the checks were fake and were purported to be written by the Jim S. Adler & Associates Law Firm.
Leslie C. Middleton, 21, along with Shalethia Danielle Middleton, 29, both of Jasper, and Terren Lloyd Verrett, 31, of Stafford - August 2017 charges of engaging in organized criminal activity. The three are accused of committing acts of forgery in an attempt to profit from criminal activity.
Garry Dickey, 41, unknown city of residence – July 2018 charge of terroristic threat against a peace officer or judge. Dickey is accused of threatening to kills Texas State Trooper Christopher Romans.
Corey DeWayne Reed, Jr., 17, of Jasper – July 2019 charge of burglary of a habitation. Reed is accused of burglarizing the home of Larry Cain and stealing a firearm
Kimber LeeAnn Waligorski, 35, of Buna – March 2018 charge of theft of property. Waligorski is accused of stealing property from Joseph Wayne Shaw, Sr.
Melvin Lee Richardson, Jr., 44, of Jasper – December 2017 charge of assault of family or house member by impeding breath or circulation. Richardson is accused of a Christmas Day assault that resulted in bodily injury for Theresa Richardson.
Zander Smart, 17, of Jasper – January 2019 charges of burglary of a habitation and theft of a firearm. Smart is accused of burglarizing the home of William Corey Land and stealing a firearm.
Carolyn Lorraine Key, 42, of Brookeland – December 2018 charge of tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair. Key is accused of trying to conceal, alter, or destroy Morphine pills as she was being arrested.
Kelly C. Knight, 29, of Brookeland – August 2017 charge of abandoning or endangering a child through criminal negligence. Knight is accused of exposing a child under the age of 15 to methamphetamine.

Calvin J. Bell, 35, of Kirbyville - Possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine
Cody R. Chapman, 43, of Jasper - Possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine
Jonathan Leonard, 38, of Port Arthur - Possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine
CeQuintha ShoDia Adams, 33, of Jasper - Possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine
An indictment by the grand jury doesn’t mean that the person named in the indictment is guilty, but instead it only indicates that grand jurors felt that enough evidence existed to merit a trial.
