The Texas Department of Public Safety has released new information and a correction about a Sunday afternoon accident in Shelby County that left three children, one teenager, and one adult deceased. It happened on Farm to Market Road 2026, about 2 miles northwest of Center.

According to Sergeant David Hendry, investigating troopers have determined that the driver of a 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when they met a westbound 2019 GMC pickup truck.

Hendry said it has been determined that both drivers took evasive action and both swerved into the eastbound lane where they collided head-on.
