A former Hudson ISD teacher - who is also a youth leader at a church - has been arrested after police say an investigation revealed that he had an improper relationship with a student, including sexual contact.
KTRE 9 News is reporting that 28-year-old math teacher James Dillon English, of Lufkin, who is also reportedly the youth pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Lufkin, is currently being held in the Angelina County Jail with bond not yet set.
The report said that English is being charged with second degree felony improper relationship between an educator and student, and second degree felony indecency with a child.
According to the report, the alleged acts occurred in November and December of 2019, after which “significant evidence” was obtained from the girl’s cell phone.
Investigators documented that the alleged victim told them that she and English had kissed multiple times, at school, at church, and in a church bus. The alleged victim also told investigators that English had touched her under her clothing.
The report said that when confronted with the allegations by a Hudson ISD official, English allegedly admitted that it was true and he then resigned immediately.
