LifeShare Blood Center in Beaumont announced on their Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon that they are currently without O+ or O- blood.
The post said “Right now we are unable to provide the O positive and O negative blood that is needed for patients. This is a real need for those undergoing surgeries and accident victims. Type "O" blood is the most transfused blood type. If you have been meaning to give, please do so now. No matter your blood type, there is a patient waiting for your gift”.
The post was accompanied by two photos, one which showed a cooler for O+ blood that was completely empty, and a cooler for O- blood which contained only one bag of blood.
LifeShare, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community blood bank, was founded in 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and they supply blood and other components to more than 100 hospitals and medical facilities throughout Louisiana, East Texas, and Southern Arkansas.
