The United States Army has released the name of a murdered Fort Polk Army wife. Meanwhile, her husband and his girlfriend remain jailed and are accused of causing her death.
Investigators say 22-year-old Shelena Kyle was killed on the base by her husband, Cpl. Logan Kyle, also 22, both of whom are originally from Indiana. Investigators say her body was placed in the trunk of his girlfriend’s car, and she has been identified as 24-year-old Sarah Parker, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department stopped the car in Lake Charles late Sunday evening and Sheriff Tony Mancuso said deputies found Sarah Parker driving with Logan Kyle as a passenger. Mancuso said Parker’s two young children, ages 1 and 2, were riding in the back seat, and in the trunk deputies found the body of Shelena Kyle.
According to Mancuso, Logan Kyle and Sarah Parker have confessed, and they told investigators that they had driven to several locations in different parishes searching for a place to dispose of the body. However, so far investigators have not revealed how Shelena Kyle died.
On Monday, Mancuso said that Parker had been charged with obstruction of justice and failure to report a homicide, but charges against Kyle have not yet been levied and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is expected to file federal criminal charges against him.
According to Fort Polk spokesperson Kim Reischling, Logan Kyle had been in the Army for four years and he was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk in February of 2017.
