The Tyler County Sheriff’s Department says a man wanted for burglaries there earlier this year has been found and arrested in Colorado.
The report said that the investigation began in April when the department received numerous calls on auto burglaries on County Road 1010 and 1020. One of the crimes included a residential burglary in which the suspect broke into the home while the homeowners were asleep, and he stole several rifles.
According to the report, investigators gathered information from witnesses and they were able to tab Jason Garett Lawson as their suspect. The Houston man apparently had ties to Vidor because the report said that one of the stolen weapons was recovered at a house there.
Lawson remained at large until this week when he was located and arrested in Denver, Colorado.
The report said Lawson also had arrest warrants for crimes committed in Jefferson County, Hardin County, and Calcasieu Parish.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials in Tyler County say they’re still trying to find the many items that Lawson is accused of stealing.
