The voters of Precinct 5 in the north end of Jasper County passed a measure on Tuesday allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages in the restaurants and eateries.

What was termed the “Local Liquor City” proposition or initiative, passed with 244 or 27.22% voting for and 72 or 22.78% voting against.

The measure will allow any establishment selling food or meals to sell alcoholic drinks to customers.
