Would you feel safer in New Orleans, Shreveport, or Leesville? According to the FBI, their statistics for the state of Louisiana show that based upon crime figures compared to population, New Orleans and Shreveport are actually safer cities to live in or visit.
A list released by the federal agency has Leesville ranked as the tenth most dangerous city in Louisiana. In fact, New Orleans and Shreveport didn’t even make the list, which was based upon violent crimes against persons and property crimes per 100,000 population.
The most dangerous city in Louisiana was Hammond, located on Interstate 10 about 42 miles northwest of New Orleans.
Going down the list in order was; #2 Opelousas, #3 Alexandria, #4 Marksville, #5 Bastrop, #6 Crowley, #7 Monroe, #8 Walker, #9 West Monroe, and #10 Leesville.
