The U.S. Army has announced that a Fort Polk soldier who, along with his girlfriend, were both arrested in October after police found the pair driving around with his dead wife in the trunk of a car, has entered a guilty plea to pre-meditated murder in relation to the death of an unborn child. Authorities say the victim was pregnant at the time of her death.
Specialist First Class Logan Kyle was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole by a military judge. Kyle was also demoted in rank to E1, and he was also dishonorably discharged from the Army along with having to forfeit all pay and allowances.
Kyle along with his girlfriend, Sarah Parker, 24, of Moss Bluff, were stopped by a Calcasieu Parish deputy in Lake Charles after the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Department received information that the two were reportedly carrying the body of his wife, 22-year-old Shelena Kyle, and were searching for a location to dump her.
Inside the car, deputies also found Parker’s two young children in the back seat. They were unharmed.
The Army says that during questioning, Kyle allegedly confessed to killing his wife.
Meanwhile, Parker still faces numerous charges related to the crime and a trial date is pending.
