It has come down to two; the Jasper Bulldogs and the Center Roughriders. The two schools are undefeated in District 9-4A Division II football, and the District Championship will go to the winner when Center comes to Jasper this Friday night.

Jasper kept intact their undefeated district record Friday night with a 48-3 win at Tarkington, while Center did the same thing with a 62-13 win over Huntington.

Jasper took the opening kickoff from Tarkington and put together a drive down to the Tarkington 1 yard line where Brashawn Hubbard opened up the scoring with a 1 yard run. Alex Mijares added the point-after and Jasper was quickly up 7-0.

Midway through the 1st quarter, Jasper found the end-zone again with a 20 yard TD pass from quarterback Trashawn Adams to Terrien “T” Collins, and with the PAT that put Jasper up 14-0.

Early in the 2nd quarter, The Dawgs scored again on a 35 yard run from Carl Limbrick. Mijares tapped in the PAT and that increased Jasper’s lead to 21-0

Very late in the 2nd quarter, Montavien Hunt had a short sprint into the end-zone and the PAT made it Jasper 28, Tarkington 0.

Just as time expired in the first half, Jasper’s Tony Beatty intercepted a pass from the Tarkington quarterback, but he was quickly tackled.

Jasper picked up the scoring again in the second half when Montavien Hunt got loose again, this time for a 20 yard touchdown run. However, Alex Mijares’ PAT was block, so Jasper lead 34-0 at that point.

Carl Limbrick found the end-zone again as time expired in the 3rd quarter, jetting down the sideline. The point-after was good and Jasper increased their lead to 41-0.

Tarkington finally lit up their side of the scoreboard late in the game with a field goal to make it 41-3.

However, Jasper scored yet again very late when Luke Collins turned in a TD run. The PAT was good and that finished the scoring with Jasper winning 48-3.

Jasper’s Homecoming Bonfire, which had to be rescheduled due to weather and other problems, will be held this Thursday evening at sunset.

Friday night is Senior Night, and the Jasper/Center game will kickoff at 7:30 with all the action LIVE on KJAS.
