The Jasper City Council has adopted a new budget which is slightly lower than the last fiscal year, while keeping the tax rate the same.

In their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening, council voted for a 2021-22 budget of $26,741,021 which is $103,727 lower than the 2020-21 budget of $26,844,748.

Council also voted to remain at the current tax rate of 0.3579.

In other action, the Jasper City Council has opted to not submit a nominee to represent the city on the Jasper County Tax Appraisal District Board of Directors. Councilman David Shultz made a motion to not submit a nominee and it was seconded by Michael Daniel. When put to a vote, Shultz, Daniel, and Laura Golden voted for, while Councilman Anderson Land abstained.
