The Board of Trustees of the Jasper Independent School District on Monday evening officially signed a contract with John Seybold making him the new Superintendent of Schools.
The three year contract with Seybold comes with an annual pay of $133,000 per year.
Seybold takes the helm following Dr. Gerald Hudson who resigned from the district last year after taking a job in the Dallas Area.
Seybold has a long history with the J.I.S.D. where he has served since 2002, excluding a short stint in Newton. Over the years, Seybold has served as teacher, assistant principal and principal. However, in recent years he served as Director of Operations.
In other business on Monday the board also voted to approve the hiring of two law firms to replace the outgoing attorney, Tanner Hunt, who recently retired.
According to Superintendent John Seybold, the district has hired the firms of Sara Leon & Associates, LLC, with offices in Houston, Austin, and Corpus Christi, and also the Haglund Law Firm, P.C., located in Lufkin.
